This painting is a highly textured abstracted fantasy landscape; it started out as a very calm, contemplative abstract, and became more fanciful as I doodled on it in paint pens. The pens as well as the underlying layers are acrylic, and the work is done on a standard 11” x 14” stretched canvas panel, approximately 5/8” deep.
I started out imagining this creature as a “Sun Bird,” but then settled on “Moon Bird,” because the blues and deep colors seemed to call for it.

This small painting on stretched canvas (the stretcher bars are standard 5/8”, not deep gallery wrap - see detail) started out as a knife painting. It sat around my house for a year or two, and when I became crazy about paint pens I scribbled all over it and began to transform it into (I guess) fantasy art. I wanted it to be beautiful, perhaps reminding someone of the presence of God and hope in their journey through this life full of harshness together with beauty. I hope you enjoy it! Any copyright watermarks on the images here are most definitely not on the original.
